THE WEEKEND EDIT

The weekend? Glad you asked.

On the outside, you're the picture of composure: gracious, balanced, agreeing with everyone. That's what happens in Libra season. We all appear simply lovely to be around.

And then there's what's actually going on inside.

Let's just say, it's a whole other show.

First, the backdrop. Our regular Edit Insiders already know some of this, but if you’re new here? Welcome. Here’s the cosmic cheat sheet: Since Oct. 3, Venus, the planet in charge of love, money and all those things you value, has been retrograde. From where we stand, she looks like she's moving backward against the sky. In practice, that makes this a review period. Old flames flicker. Old purchases get second-guessed. Old questions ("Wait, what do I actually want?") come back uninvited. Right now, Venus is in Scorpio, the sign of secrets and obsession, which has inspired her to do things like go through your old texts. She stays retrograde until Nov. 13. So yes, darling, don the armor and prepare for a whole damn season of her nonsense, not just a weekend. You may also want to hit delete on a few things at your earliest convenience.

Then, on Saturday, here comes the New Moon in Libra, the sky's version of a fresh chapter. Normally, people look to the Moon for things like starting over with a clean slate. Sort of like a bonus New Year’s Day. Time to begin again. Do we have good intentions each and every time? Of course we do.

In fact, your TikTok feed will probably be bringing you countless New Moon mystical dances and six-second hocus-pocus incantations which promise to manifest your heart's desire. It's magical and mysterious and only those with pure hearts will be destined for ...

Oh, wait. Full stop.

So not us.

And this New Moon? Yeah, not like the others, either. This one's got a mind of her own, too.

By early evening Saturday, Venus is clashing with Mars (all’s fair in love and war, apparently), who has been strutting through Leo since late September, convinced he deserves top billing. Both are in what astrologers call fixed signs, which is the technical way of saying nobody's budging.

It’s a stare down between want versus worth. Pride versus the past.

While they’re bringing pig-headed energy to the fore, there's not even a hint of light to help you sort it out. You see, a New Moon is a dark Moon.

So, there you sit, in total darkness, listening to the voice inside your head.

It has opinions. And it doesn't know when to shut up. Thank Venus and Mars for that.

And then, after what feels like an eternity, the Moon moves into Scorpio around midday Sunday.

Scorpio is the sign of secrets and reading between the lines, and yeah, he's working overtime. Mercury, the planet of thoughts and conversation, is now part of the act. Venus is still mucking about, going through your personal effects. Once the Moon arrives, your feelings get big. Scorpio is out of patience.

By early evening, the Moon clashes with Pluto, the planet of power and control. Expect undercurrents. Who's calling the shots? What's that tone about?

And by Monday afternoon, when the Moon finally reaches Mercury, whatever's been rattling around inside your head is most likely going to be said out loud.

Calm and cool on the outside. Hot mess on the inside. That's this weekend's energy. Now, whatcha gonna do with that?

🍸Cosmic Energy Best Bets

Best time to be social: Friday afternoon into early evening.

The Moon is in charming Libra and gets along easily with Uranus (fresh conversation, fun surprises) and Mars (confidence, a little spark). Make the plans. Show up. Be delightful.

Runner-up: Saturday evening, when Jupiter gives the Moon a generous lift right after the Venus-Mars blowup. Warmth returns. Mostly. If you run across any aloofness, simply feign intrigue.

Best time to work out: Saturday early evening.

Venus and Mars are fighting, and all that friction needs somewhere to go. Better the treadmill than the group chat. If you want a workout where you actually feel strong rather than one where you're burning off rage, go Friday late afternoon, when the Moon and Mars are in sync.

Best time to put the phone down: Friday overnight.

The Moon faces off with Saturn, the sky's strict parent. That midnight text? Saturn says don’t even think about it.

THE COSMIC WEATHER REPORT

Friday: Clearing skies. Better as the day goes on.

Moon enters Libra in the wee hours. Mercury tangles with Saturn in the morning, so the day may start with crossed wires, second-guessing or a case of “why is this harder than it should be?” By afternoon, the mood lightens considerably.

Saturday: Partly charming with a strong chance of drama.

New Moon in Libra just before noon ET. Venus clashes with Mars early evening. Translation: fresh-start energy meets friction, desire and a little stubbornness. The Moon gets a helpful boost from Jupiter in the evening, then goes quiet for the night.

Sunday: Darker, deeper, considerably less interested in small talk.

The Moon stays quiet until about midday, when it enters Scorpio. The mood deepens fast. Feelings get stronger, subtext gets louder and casual conversation may suddenly require a forensic team. Whatever you do, leave no fingerprints.

Monday: Possible cold front, thanks to clearer thinking and sharper words.

The Moon continues through Scorpio and catches up with Mercury in the afternoon. Whatever you’ve been thinking about suddenly gets easier to name, investigate or finally say out loud.

POWER MOVE

Thoughts determine actions.

HOW THIS ENERGY HITS BY ELEMENT

FIRE SIGNS (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Let’s call what it is: Fire signs don’t do inner monologues. You do outer ones. With Mars in Leo picking a fight with Venus on Saturday, your instinct will be to settle it now, loudly, and preferably with an audience.

But this weekend rewards restraint, and with Saturn in Aries, a hasty word turns into a long cleanup. Leo, Jupiter in your sign gives you charm to spare, darling. Spend it, don’t burn it.

Magnetism Move: Count to ten. Then to ten again. Mystery looks good on you.

EARTH SIGNS (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but Venus retrograde turns your inner voice into an accountant wearing sensible shoes. Purchases, commitments, even relationships get a cost-benefit review, whether or not you asked for one.

Taurus, Venus is your ruler, so this one’s extra personal. Cap, the New Moon puts your public role and your private life in a tug-of-war. Virg, you’ll draft the perfect message 11 times. That’s fine; now stop. Sending it is optional.

Magnetism Move: Take notes now and make the decisions later. Venus turns direct Nov. 13.

AIR SIGNS (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

It’s Libra season, so you’re the ones looking effortlessly lovely on the outside — hell, you seem to be effortlessly floating by and freshly manicured to boot. But the inside story? Yep, you’re replaying every conversation on a loop. Friday is your best window, when the Moon gets along with Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius and the ideas flow.

Libra, yes, it’s your New Moon, but with your ruler Venus in retrograde, it’s a do-over, not a debut.

Magnetism Move: Stop decoding. Ask. Directness on you is an unexpected, and very welcome, look.

WATER SIGNS (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Your inner voice is your best friend. You trust it, and this weekend it’s clear, concise and maybe a tad brutal. When the Moon reaches Scorpio on Sunday, it joins Mercury and retrograde Venus there, and your intuition should be classified as a lethal weapon.

Scorpio, everything’s happening in your sign. (We’d say remain calm, but honestly, who can tell?) Cancer and Pisces, you’ll pick up on what no one is saying out loud. But just because you sense it doesn’t mean you have to announce it.

Magnetism Move: Know more than you say. That’s the whole power play.

See You Tuesday

Now, go on and weekend.
