Jaci with her German Shepherd, Radar, in Montauk, N.Y. (which, by the way, has one of the best skies in the world for stargazing.)
My background is in news and media, a path I originally followed because I wanted to be a writer.
I've worked as a reporter, editor and media executive, and today I'm CEO and Executive Director of the Fair Media Council.
Long story short, here we are, bringing together my professional skill set and two subjects I've been fascinated with for as long as I can remember: astrology and personal energy.
I've studied astrology for decades. As a kid, I couldn't wait to read my horoscope in the daily newspaper. I also spent a considerable amount of my youth staring into the night sky, wondering what was transpiring up there, and if stars spoke to one another by twinkling.
Meanwhile, down here on Earth, I've always been active. Working out, weight training, yoga, Pilates, competitive dance. Different activities, yes, but all of them contributed to my fascination with personal energy. How it works for us, how it works around us, and what happens when our energy mingles with someone else's.
Think about it. Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt the energy change? Or met someone whose presence was positively magnetic? What is that, exactly? And how do we create more of it for ourselves?
Sometime during the pandemic, I began exploring a different angle: how the movements of the planets might influence the energy surrounding us. After all, humankind has spent centuries blaming the Full Moon for strange behavior. And Mercury retrograde has become everyone's favorite explanation for mistakes, miscommunications and technology having a nervous breakdown.
But what else is going on up there? And what might it mean for us down here?
The more I explored, the more interested I became in a particular idea: What if we could use the energy around us to our advantage? Think of it as having the wind at your back.
Knowing when to make your move. Understanding when the atmosphere might work in your favor. Building confidence, increasing your personal magnetism, and walking into a room with the kind of energy that naturally draws people into your orbit.
It brought together my curiosity about astrology, my interest in personal energy and the skills I'd developed over a lifetime in news and media.
And that's how The Sign Edit was born.
